Location

‘Dartonia Cottage’ is just a short walk down Irsha Street from the pretty quayside village of Appledore, famous for its quaint winding narrow lanes lined with brightly painted fisherman’s cottages and its ship building. It is just a minutes walk from the lifeboat station and four minutes walk from the nearest pub, The Beaver which serves home cooked food, a great selection of drinks and live music.

Parking is at a premium in Appledore with many holiday cottages having no parking, meaning having to unload and load quickly in narrow streets and then find somewhere to park. Dartonia Holiday Cottage in Appledore benefits from its own private off road parking for up to two cars, meaning you can unload at your leisure, leave the car and wander into town

A firm favourite is crabbing from the Quay of Appledore, followed by a delicious ‘Hockings’ ice cream (a local Appledore family business). There is a great choice of independent shops, pubs art galleries, tea rooms and restaurants specialising in fine local produce. These include John’s Deli, The Seagate, Benson Licensed Restaurant and Susie’s Tea Rooms to name a few.

The Appledore/Instow ferry is a seasonal ferry that takes passengers across to the pretty village of Instow. The sandy beach backed by a pebble ridge of Westward Ho!, popular with families and water sport enthusiasts is only a short drive away. The Northam Burrows Country Park  offers a fantastic place for walking.
